Talks and Valuation Days
We are delighted to give talks or smaller valuation events for special interest groups and societies. Societies we have held talks for in the past include:
Lady’s Probus Club
Morningside Historical Society
Corstorphine’s Lady’s Eastern Star
The Rotary Club
Edinburgh University Alumni
We were delighted to be invited by the organisers of the Scottish Business Awards in 2012 to host their prestigious charity auction in the Edinburgh Conference Centre. With guest speaker Sir Bob Geldof, the evening was a resounding success with the auction raising over £100,000.
Ramsay Cornish supports
Ramsay Cornish are delighted to run a busy schedule each year of events supporting a wide range of charities. Our Christmas Auction on 20th December includes a Georgian style dolls house, complete with furniture, to be sold on behalf of Save the Children which we hope will attract lively bidding for this worthwhile charity.
In 2014 we were delighted to hold charity auctions for :
Fundraising auctions are a popular and effective way of generating income for charities. We have been pleased to offer both professional advice and our auctioneering skills to many such events for charities including Edinburgh Sick Kids Foundation, The Earl Haig Poppy Fund and The Royal Bank of Scotland on behalf of Cancer Research. We are also delighted to help in other ways from hosting valuation days to giving specialist talks.
We are keen to support the arts and education in particular and offer an annual prize at the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA). The SSA was founded as an artist run exhibiting society in 1891 with its objective to support the new, young and innovative in the arts. Always risk-taking and creative we particularly support the Society’s promotion of student work.
Recognising how hard it can be for the young to obtain practical work experience, we have a programme in place offering work placements both paid and unpaid for school pupils in their 5th and 6th years. We welcome all applications for this programme, please email for further information.
Ramsay Cornish continues our strong relationship with the team from the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip. They visited us again this year in April where the two featured antique dealers will test their buying skills, putting lots up for sale at auction which they have sourced from antique shops or markets. This episode was screened late in 2014.
