British Art Show 8 at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art
We saw an amazing exhibition this weekend at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. British Art Show 8 is a touring exhibition that takes place every five years showing the most significant contemporary art produced in the UK. The show is split between the Gallery of Modern Art, Inverleith House, Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Talbot Rice Gallery.
Particularly stunning, in our opinion is the work by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2013. These works are large oil paintings, but the oil is handled so sensitively it almost appears as watercolour with a lightness and softness of colour that contrasts with the powerful and strong images she paints. They really are quite beautiful.
The exhibition is on until 8th May and we recommend a visit.
