THE WARDROBE OF AN AMERICAN SOCIETY LADY
This is the first auction of vintage, couture and designer clothing held in Edinburgh, and was an exciting departure from our usual General, and Specialist Antique and Silver and Jewellery auctions.  The auction was a great success with delighted buyers responding enthusiastically to a new form of shopping.  Lots enjoying particularly keen bidding included handbags, and evening wear, a Valentino two piece black velvet evening dress achieved the top price of £460.00.  Our illustrated website proved its worth again attracting bidders from throughout the UK. Husbands beware, now fashion conscious wives can claim their wardrobes to be an investment!

AUCTION NEWS AND SALES RESULTS 

SILVER and JEWELLERY AUCTION 17th July 2010.
There were some pleasant surprises for sellers in our recent sale, of particular interest was a large collection of pocket watches including those with jewelled and enamelled cases, the collection realised in excess of £15,000 and attracted wide interest from local and international buyers proving once again the value of our internet marketing.  A suite of silver flatware by Georg Jensen attracted lively bidding finally realising over £6,000.  Once again silver and jewellery proves a reliable investment in uncertain times.

Richard Longwill has recently joined us as an auctioneer and valuer.  Richard is a well known figure on the Scottish auction  scene having set up and run Shapes Auctioneers for some thirteen years and latterly worked with Lyon and Turnbull.  We welcome his experience and expertise as we continue to develop and grow the business at Ramsay Cornish Auctioneers.

Meanwhile we continue with our General, Antique and Collectable's auctions each Saturday at our Edinburgh saleroom beginning at 11.00am.  Please view the website for catalogues which are available from close of business each Thursday.  Our "Lane" sale selling residual effects continues to be ever popular and takes place each Thursday at 11.00am.  This sale is a cash sale and attracts no buyer's premium.

RAMSAY CORNISH ON NATIONAL TELEVISION  -  Ramsay Cornish will be featured for the second time in the BBC2 programme Antiques Roadtrip, the filming took place at our July Antique and Decorators' auction and will be screened on BBC2 in the autumn.
